Meet Your Counselor

Naomi Painter, MEd, LPC

Hi! I’m so glad you’re here! Nice to meet you! My name is Naomi. First, of all, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon with a private practice providing somatic-based individual and relationship and therapy. I am registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, and I abide by its Code of Ethics. License: C6684, NPI: 1326654765, Tax ID 88-0728834.

okay but who am i really?

Really? I am a somatic therapist who loves, LOVES, to help people connect with their actual selves. My favorite folks to work with are the Helpers. Now, that may very well mean folks in a helping profession: case managers, healthcare providers, social workers, educators, and absolutely therapists (I get extra excited about working with CBT therapists. Really, email me!). But I’m also talking about the ones who were always the helpers, taking care of somebody or many somebodies since childhood, maybe siblings, parents, people in the community, whoever. If you feel a sense of obligation to the world, if you feel like you’ve been a servant to your family or your job, if you’re not really sure what YOU want or even if you should be wanting things, I’m so very ready for you to have a place where you get to be taken care of for once.

why am i like that?

Well, in my pre-private practice days, I have been: a family support worker and program manager for a home visiting program serving first-time parents, a special education paraeducator, a school counselor at the elementary, middle, and high school level, a case manager and program manager for a grant serving veterans experiencing homelessness, and an Aging and Disability case manager. Not to mention babysitter, camp counselor, and fort builder extraordinaire. I know what it’s like to feel responsible for others’ well-being, and what a toll it can take over time.

other stuff about me

I moved from England to the United States in 1991, and from Maryland to Portland in 2013. A ludicrous number of houseplants live in my home rent-free, and I am a dog person although I do respect cats. I enjoy knitting and other fiber crafts, Pilates, board and PC gaming, WWE wrestling, Victorian literature, painting and drawing, dancing, and exploring the Pacific Northwest and UK/Europe. I adore dark chocolate, macaroni and cheese, and sushi burritos. I am familiar enough with French and German to be able to order food, which is the important part.
